Association of Bulgarian Tour operators and Travel Agents, ABTTA is à non-profit corporation that consolidates 96 of the biggest and most respected Bulgarian travel agencies - representatives of air ticketing and tourism intermediary business.
The Association was established in 1996 as Association of IATA Accredited Agencies in Bulgaria, SIAB and in September 2006 was renamed into Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents.
Nowadays Association’ members perform more than 70% of the common market share of regular air transport sales, thus forming great part of Bulgarian tourism.
The main aim of ABTTA is to actively support the sustainable development of the Bulgarian tourist industry by improving tourism legal and business environment, by enhancing the interaction between the business and the State and by encouraging the professional growth of Bulgarian tourist agencies towards achieving a modern, competitive and attractive vision of the Bulgarian tourist destination.
The Association provides its members with regular information on the topics of present importance by organizing regular bi-annual meetings, seminars and workshops on “hot” tourism issues and problems of common interest. ABTTA participates and supports its members’ participation in local and international tourism exchanges and exhibitions. Association’s members enjoy specific economic privileges through better business conditions negotiated by ABTTA with insurance companies, banks and other relevant tourism related shareholders.
ABTTA’ members receive legal expertise on the problems of common significance and juridical protection of their business interests.
As sole representative of Bulgaria in the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operator’ Association, ECTAA, ABTTA presents the balanced interests of the whole Bulgarian tourist sector in front of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the other EU institutions.
The General Assembly is the plenary of all ABTTA’ members. It meets at least once per year and among its main powers are the appointment of Board of Directors of the Board and approval of the Association’ annual program and budget.
The Board of Directors is the body empowered to hold ABTTA’ policy and take any decision of administrative nature the Association is engaged with.
The Board of directors is managed by a Chairman. The Board activities are supported by permanent working committees: Aviation Committee; Legal Committee; Tourism Committee; PR Committee; Fiscal Committee; Membership, regional structures and development Committee; International affairs Committee.
